– Environmental issues have started to play a key role in megacities planning. Transport, air pollution and infrastructures such as energy, water, waste and health care became the major problems to solve. Problems that have wide social and economic implications.
The main challenge facing megacities today is to find ways to answer the growing demand for public transportation, public services, and accommodation, and to figure out how best to improve living conditions in a way that is environmentally sustainable. Innovation and technology provide some answers but solid governance is and will remain a key factor for success.
